National consumption of Fresh Milk was 572 million litres in 2023.
Sales of whole milk represented 64% of Fresh Milk sales while sales of lowfat and skimmed milks represented 36% of sales.
Domestic supplies from registered producers had a 71% share of the domestic Fresh Milk market while milk imports had a market share of 29%.
Retailers were the main distribution channel for Fresh Milk distributing 74% of all Fresh Milk sales, followed by the Food Service channel at 21% and Doorstep Delivery at 5%.
Last year the domestic Fresh Milk market utilised less than 5% of annual domestic milk supplies of 8.5 billion litres.
